Many people now join EcoQuest through our Consumables division. This was rare prior to 2008.

History (explanation of air purification is included)

Since 1986 we have been known as an indoor air purification company. We were the first indoor air purification company. We were the best (and we still are)...and for ten years we were the only game in town. Then other companies began piggybacking on our good start. The background noise they create makes it more difficult to discuss air purification because they typically offer various products that, to our standards, are not true purifiers. So let's explain!

Passive systems—such as HEPA filters and collector plate systems—are not true purifiers. Filtration has its place, but not when purification is the goal...such as for protection against mold, bacteria and viruses, and reduction of the tiniest and most harmful classes of particulate, as well as for odor removal. Dirty filters actually increase the amount of bacteria and mold in the air: the direct opposite of purification. To be effective, a purification system must include active technologies (friendly oxidizers and ions) that go out into the living space to do their work. An ultraviolet light bulb or filter, by itself, has no way to improve air that does not pass by it or through it. Microbiological and sub-micron particle tests validate the superiority of a purifier over a filter in every case.

The satisfied customer is the marketplace arbiter of air purification effectiveness. In both categories—either scientific review or customer satisfaction—we are the  champion!

In the nineties we added a drinking water system, Living Water. At that point we were an air purification company with one outside product. Air and water were an ideal fit, but we just had our toe in the water. We later added the SpringHouse whole home water system and showerheads to protect people against absorbing chlorine as they showered.

A surprise announcement greeted our dealers at EcoQuest's 2001 convention in Cancun. We had entered into a marketing alliance with a small nutrition company from Arizona. EcoQuest had a large and diverse sales force, whereas Infinity2's marketing force was comprised mostly of medical, exercise, and sports industry professionals. I2's enzyme science had been pioneered by Dr. Stan Bynum. Every product contained a patented component called CAeDS (chelate-activated enzyme delivery system) that was formulated—enzyme by enzyme—to help the body absorb the food ingredients in that particular supplement. The company had done digestion tests, and the claims were true. This line of supplements was all natural and very different!

Some people asked: How do nutritional supplements fit with air and water purification?

That was easy. We are The Healthy Living Company. It can be argued that air is the most essential part of healthy living. We can't live for more than a few minutes without it.

Water is next. Humans can only live a few days without it. To support this aspect of healthy living, we have water products.

Then comes food. Humans need food and nutrition every day, and good nutrition is clearly better than poor nutrition. Infinity2 supplements are made from whole food ingredients, mineral chelates and enzymes.

Other product lines have also been added, including LaundryPure and EcoPower4. This is the modern day EcoQuest.

The companies were merged in 2004; Infinity2 became a part of EcoQuest. But for several years we still presented ourselves to the public as an air purification company, not as a Healthy Living Company. To adjust to our expanded mission, we created a separate compensation plan. We began doing nutrition training calls six mornings each week. But the Infinity2 side of EcoQuest never grew beyond 14% of the company's sales.

Who is Writing This?

I'm one of the fifty or so Master Sales Managers who have attained EcoQuest's top sales rank —but I'm unknown to someone new who is checking us out. So let me tell the story that brought me here! A footnote at the end of this essay explains my philosophy about taking nutritional supplements. It will be helpful to many who are trying to decide what the potential of this is.

In 1970 I signed into the Shaklee multilevel marketing (MLM) nutrition company, and for 17 years that was my career.  I was a believer in nutritional supplementation and networking. By working very hard and with a good strategy, in three years I reached Shaklee's top rank. Over my 17 years I helped that company do hundreds of millions of dollars in sales. That's not an exaggeration. The process of generating business with a network can be very powerful!

I know that enormous things lie ahead for this division of EcoQuest. Until now, our focus was so heavily weighted toward air purification that the Consumables branch of the company did not gain its own momentum. Thanks to some 2007 and 2008 decisions, all EcoQuest divisions are now being viewed on an equal footing.

Six Divisions

Let's look at EcoQuest's divisions.

1.  Residential Technologies—includes indoor air purification products, residential water purification products and LaundryPure.

2.  Commercial—known as activTek Environmental.

3.  Consumables—the subject of this essay.

4.  International—Division with significant action going on in half a dozen countries and small inroads elsewhere.

5.  A small MarketPlace Division that sells primarily to our Dealers.

6.  An Energy Division—for power conservation—featuring EcoPower4.

Divisions [1] through [4] have hundred million dollar per year, stand-alone potential or more. We have the equivalent of four strong companies working under one umbrella. Historically, we all joined the Residential Technologies division. We let our own interests and skills determine our focus.

I have always believed in promoting all of our divisions. My goal is to build an ever-larger network and let the law of averages work its magic. A few people will have an aptitude to do Commercial business, as Alton Holt, Stan Morse, and others have demonstrated. The majority will focus on Home Technologies, general recruiting, and Consumables. A few will do best with International. Mike Hansen lives in Spain. He covers Spain, Portugal, and Italy and sells to Kentucky Fried Chicken, Burger King, and other major corporations.

I am happy to earn my small percentages on all of our divisions.

Getting Started

I invite newcomers to look at all that we offer and choose their own best path. If a person has tried an air purifier and had spectacular results, Residential Technologies may well be his best choice. An air conditioning expert might go with Residential but keep an eye on Commercial. Someone who has been with a Brand-X MLM company that sold vitamins might feel a natural inclination to go with Consumables.

If I were starting today, I would start with Consumables. I would buy a Wellness Business Pack and start an Autoshipment for my supplements. Money permitting, I would buy a Fresh Air, a DuctwoRx, and Focus units (those little ones shown below) for my home. I'd want a Living Water Ultra for drinking water, a Refresh for my refrigerator and showerheads for my bathrooms. In my laundry room I would install a LaundryPure. I would install an EcoPower4 to save electricity and protect my equipment at home.

My marketing approach would be to...

1. Approach all my friends about my new business.

2. Set up an in-home Mini Office to showcase my products.

3. Be a living, breathing, walking example of my own products (all product lines).

4. Look for ambitious, entrepreneurial people who would follow in my footsteps!

5. Learn about and "feel out" the other divisions—if I found a fit, I would go there.

6. I would want to learn the basics about all the divisions.

This approach requires an initial investment of $1,000 to $2,500, depending on how quickly I want to fill my home with all the technologies. The minimum commitment up front is $750 for a Wellness Business Pack and roughly $120 per month for a Triple-A order.

If I immediately start recruiting, I could be making $1,000 per month or more within sixty days. If I'm good at selling air purifiers, I could make $1,000 in my first week. These factors will be different for each person...and that brings out the rest of my strategy.

7. I would want to be firmly established in all the divisions within 120 days.

8. Also within 120 days, I'd want to have a career plan mapped out. The person who wants to make $2,000 per month will have a very different "map" from the person who wants to make $20,000 per month. Both objectives are possible.

I am not new. I'm an established leader. Even so, I have to look at the new doors that have been opened. The steps I followed in my early days are not necessarily the same steps that will best suit me now. The size of EcoQuest's opportunity has just gone up!

Multiple Options

For many people, the Master Business Owner Success Pack will be their startup choice. That has been our proven path to fast growth in the Technology Division for more than a decade...and it is still a good choice.

Naturally, I want to make a swift and smooth transition to the 2008 paradigm of multiple options. That's why I have worked so hard on this webpage. I want to figure things out. I want to find the right words to describe who we are as a company and where we are going. I want to help my established people find their sea legs as we cast off on this new adventure.

I hope you will come back often to see how this website is evolving. It has to change because some references have been made to the newness of this program. Those parts have to be reworded. It is also sure to change based on new things I learn and new contributions others make to our marketing effort.

It is a very exciting time. Thank you for reading.

Sincerely,

Bob Giddens

One of our Master Managers recently coined a new phrase.

She said, "America is going green and we've got lawn."

"What's lawn?" asked owner Mike Jackson.

Sharon Gold from New Braunfels, Texas, replied:

"LAWN, the Law of Air, Water and Nutrition."

Footnote 1

The Giddens Wellness Philosophy

At age 28 Bob Giddens joined the aforementioned vitamin company (Shaklee) and wanted to learn what was going on. He heard many miracle stories. "I used to have such and such disease, and once I started taking these products all my symptoms went away and I was a new person."

Bob jokes about being jealous of people who were lucky enough to be sick! It did seem as if they had a marketing edge. Bob was young and fit. His family has good genetics, with no history of cancer, diabetes or any other major illness. "I'm not tall and I'm not the best looking guy in the world," he says, "but I have definitely been blessed with good general health."

What about nutritional supplements? Bob's mother gave him cod liver oil. And the food industry puts supplements everywhere. Most Americans use iodized salt. Vitamin D is added to milk. Breakfast cereals have added vitamins. We all take them. But Bob wasn't a daily vitamin user until he was 28.

"I began taking a lot of supplements as a part of my business. I wanted to test the products and walk the walk, so I took one of everything every day, and there were some products where I used up to six. Almost overnight, I was a full-fledged health food nut. I worked on improving my diet, but that was hard. I ate fast food and carbonated drinks and fried chicken...and I loved nothing better than eating a sleeve of saltine crackers while watching TV. It's hard to worry about your eating habits when you've always been healthy. You feel indestructible. I had never been too fond of veggies, but I learned to enjoy raw broccoli, raw cauliflower, raw cabbage and a few other 'scary-type' vegetables. I did not have a personal miracle story, but I had this..."

I take nutritional supplements because I appreciate my good health and want to keep it. I've read some nutrition books and they make sense most of the time. I'm not a fanatic, nor am I against doctors. My goals are to feel good and live a long and active life. I don't go to doctors very often, but if I need one, I appreciate the advice and treatment. I want to be healthy enough that if a disease comes along I might not get it. That's not always possible, but if I do get sick, I'd like to just get a mild case. I'd like to be well very quickly! I love life and want to live it! If I'm in an accident, I want my body to be prepared in advance to heal itself. As I grow older (I am now 66), I want to look youthful, be free from pain as much as possible, remain alert and active and I want to live longer. We're all going to die, and when that happens from natural causes it's hard to say if things might have been different. Basically, a person who wants to live a longer and better life has to make some decisions and follow through as best he can. That's why I take my Infinity2 supplements faithfully and in generous amounts. What an incredible gift it will be if I can add five good years to my life. I said good years. Who wouldn't want that?

The Impact of More Good Years

What about you? If you had two or three or five more good years, wouldn't you be able to make enough money in those extra productive years to justify buying a Wellness Business Pack now and joining our Triple-A autoshipment program? Besides enjoying their lives and families a little longer, some people will add hundreds of thousands of dollars to their life's earnings in that amount of time.

Baby Boomers

Births spiked upwards in the US when millions of soldiers, sailors and airmen returned from World War II. The "boom group" born between 1946 to 1963 celebrate their 45th through 62nd birthdays in 2008. Fifty million of them are still alive, living in the US and spending money. They greatly value their health and will not hesitate to spend money on good lawn* products. Many have discretionary time and/or financial needs and/or entrepreneurial personalities, making them excellent candidates to participate in the EcoQuest business.

* Sharon Gold's Law of Air, Water and Nutrition

An "echo boom" followed 25 years later as the boom babies started having babies of their own. These people, now in their early adult years, represent another huge bloc of consumers and entrepreneurs.

Whether you choose Casual Participation, Middle Participation or Serious Career Participation, the time is perfect to be active in EcoQuest. Where else can you get a return on investment of 100% in sixty days and 100% more every month thereafter if you are able to spread the word effectively?

For Once, Let Timing Work In Your Favor

The US economy is in a mess in 2008. The homebuilding and home finance industries are in crisis. The wars are draining us. Our balance of payments is hopelessly unbalanced. The OPEC countries own whatever parts of us the Chinese don't own. Meanwhile, Congress and the President are giving small amounts of money to low and middle income people in hopes of stimulating the economy. Actually, the big giveaway is motivated by the political season. More than anything, they are trying to buy your vote!

How is this connected to EcoQuest?

Wouldn't it be nice to get into a business that pays you real cash? Wouldn't it be nice to be in a position to maybe buy some real estate and/or stocks before the next boom starts? We are going to boom again. America is a country that can't be held down. Maybe the next big boom will start in 2010. How exciting would it be to have $10,000 extra per month to put into investments? What if you kept investing at that rate for two or three years?

That might be possible sooner than you think if you can learn to put four new people per month into this program. Scroll down to see a very impressive income example.

Income Model

Go to the 15-Minute Presentation ("It's Astonishing What Is Possible With 308 Active People") to see a realistic one-year income model that begins with the recruiting of four new Consumables dealers per month and merges in a certain level of Technology work. It is a model, of course, not a guarantee. It assumes that 25% of the people drop out at each level (your attrition rate may be higher or lower). Technology estimates are based on the assumption that 1 dealer out of 10 will take an interest in selling Technology products (your group's commitment to the Technology products may be higher or lower).

Conference Calls

To assist those who want to build toward this model (or some other model of their own design), we offer a daily recruiting call at 11:00 AM Eastern time, Monday through Saturday.

A Vision of the Future (email sent to the field on 2/10/08)

Let's cause headaches for Letts

Dear Leaders:

9:30 AM Eastern Time the regular 30-minute Nutrition Call

11:00 AM Eastern Time — recruiting call for Consumables

1-641-594-7500, code 546009#

Mike Jackson and other company and field leaders will help you recruit your brand new prospects and sell them a Wellness Business Pack from scratch in 30 minutes. Invite your prospects to listen. Give them the number or, better yet, link them on a 3-way call. Convey whatever level of excitement and urgency you are capable of conveying. We don't want to just tie you up for 30 minutes, we want you to bring a guest and make $125 every day. When you group starts duplicating, you might make $500 or $1,000 on some days. Hang on to your hat. Your life is about to change.

We want to begin the process of causing headaches for Mike Letts. Keep reading.

Carpe Diem means "Seize the moment" or, more literally, "Harvest the day."

A big moment is upon us. A red light is flashing. It is saying, "This is not just a 'good' moment...it's bigger than that. This is one of those 'once in a decade' moments. For some, it may be a 'once in a lifetime' moment. Some loyal EcoQuest people have been working for years and they have been waiting for today. Well, today is here."

Four questions. [1] Do you see this moment for what it is? [2] Are you willing to seize it? [3] Will you convey the urgency of this moment to others? [4] Will you learn and become a better person so you can be a better leader as this opportunity explodes? Much support already exists and more will follow. I will reach out via email, web pages, newsletters, conference calls, personal example and personal contact.

What does the subject (Let's cause headaches for Letts) of this message mean? Formerly our Chief Operating Officer, Mike Letts became the president in January. Mr. Letts is a quiet and hardworking man. He now runs all divisions except Marketing.

Paradoxically, the business activity Mike has to support comes from the side of the company over which he has no controlMarketing. I've been with several companies during growth explosions and, let me tell you, it's plenty stressful on the people at the home office. Orders don't just "pick up," they explode out of control. The whole world changes. Recruiting goes up by a factor of 2 or 3 or 4. Calls to Customer Service go up by 2 or 3. The demand for raw materials and finished product goes up.

This is a mixed blessing. We field people want explosive growth. We live on growth. The more growth we experience, the more momentum we develop. Our checks go up. We feel the enthusiasm and work harder. Not just harder but with more passion. We work with a sense of excitement, urgency and belief.

Oh, but poor Mr. Letts! He has to get out the whip and lash the backs of his oarsmen. He has to answer tough questions and make tough decisions. What will the demand be next month and six months from now? Do we have to spend extra money to fly in new components? Will our divisions all grow equally? How many new employees will we need? If people need to be trained for two weeks before they can be effective, how to we keep up in the interim? And the toughest question: is this a boom or a bubble?

I believe in Mike Letts. He can handle the challenges I am listing. But, at the same time, we will cause him 1,000 headaches. These thoughts apply to all the home office people. They'll soon be working in an environment of exploding demand and they will also be training and assisting new employees.

Out in the field, we do not all think alike. I'm running full speed and the race hasn't begun. Shan Stratton and Mike Jackson are running fast, too. I'm trying my best to get my friends to run at full speed. Shan and Mike are doing the same. A bona fide boom has the potential to run for a couple of years before it levels out, but the early birds get far more out of the boom. Some people are standing in the background and saying the new Consumables stuff is not their cup of tea. Others like what they see but don't know how to merge yesterday with today. If they jump on the rocket in a big way, there is an element of risk. What if I put my heart into this and suffer a broken heart?

Another challenge! What if the boom is true? In 2 or 3 months we will be facing the same challenges that Mike Letts will have been facing (ours are at the grass roots level). Will we be able to lead our people when business is booming and services are stressed? If people are complaining that the waiting time on the Customer Service line is 45 minutes and that products are slow in coming, will we be able to stay cool and keep our people happy?

Readers of this email can capitalize on this boom if they understand their blessings and keep them in perspective. You must ask yourself some questions. Here is a life-changing and career-changing window of opportunity. Am I going to seize it? Or will I sit in the background and gripe about how my people are having trouble getting through to the company?

Keep thinking... If I want the most out of the upcoming boom, I must prepare myself now for the wonderful inflow of new people! I'm must learn the ins and outs of my business so I will be ready to answer questions properly and help take the load off the company. I must become a thinker and a leader. Training is available to me from websites, conference calls and my own in-the-trenches work. I also must identify my sub-leaders and get them up to the highest speed they are capable of.

I've been through this before. It is great. It is exciting. It is what we dream of. It is what we want for our people. But great rewards never come without a price. Through this email, I am putting you on notice. My thoughts...

1. We're in for something wonderful.

2. The time to get started is now.

3. This may be the biggest EcoQuest opportunity you will ever see.

4. It will start with Consumables but carry forward to all the divisions.

5. People who prepare themselves and get started now will be the biggest winners.

6. You should start now and work with a sense of great urgency.

7. Bring some friends with you to this party!

8. Pray for Mike Letts!

Sincerely,

Bob Giddens
