PowerwoRx-e3 (Pe3)
—a whole-house energy system that provides the best energy savings
and protection. Pe3 is based on a patented technology providing
three key benefits:
|

Energy Savings
(e1)
Equipment Protection
(e2)
Electrical Noise Filtration
(e3) |
What is the PowerwoRx-e3 Warranty?
PowerwoRx-e3 has a 10-year unconditional warranty. Even if Pe3
performs as it should in the event of a direct lightning strike, and
the unit sacrifices itself, EcoQuest will repair or replace it.
The patent pending design and quality of the components used in the
PowerwoRx-e3 Whole House Energy Management System lets us offer this
industry leading warranty. No other manufacturer comes close.
Proudly manufactured in America!
Energy Savings
Pe3
reduces the power drawn from the utility by storing otherwise lost
electricity caused by the inductive motors in a home (air
conditioners, refrigerators, freezers, washers, dryers, dishwashers,
pool pumps, vacuum cleaners, furnace blower motors, fans, etc).
Pe3
supplies the stored electricity back to inductive loads, thus
causing decreased demand from the utility. The process is called
power factor optimization.
Power Factor is the percentage of electricity delivered to a house
and used effectively, compared to what is wasted. A 1.0 power factor
means that all the electricity is being used effectively for its
purpose. Most homes in America today have a .77 power factor or
less. This means that 77% of the electricity that comes through the
meter (home
or business)
is being used effectively. The other 23% is being wasted by your
inductive load. With a low power factor, the utility has to deliver
more electricity to do the same work.
Pe3
increases that power factor in most cases to .97 or .98, thus
increasing the effective use of the electricity and lowering usage.

Equipment Protection
Pe3
provides Spike/Surge protection, guarding appliances and electronics
(TV’s,
stereos, computers, DVRs, security systems, wireless phones, and
other equipment)
against voltage spikes, power fluctuations, static electricity, and
lightning.
The most common form of Spike/Surge suppression are MOVs (metal
oxide varistors).
MOVs are arranged in parallel with the circuit being protected.
Typical residential and light commercial power sources allow
literally hundreds of spikes and surges per day to reach valuable
and sensitive electronic equipment. In the event of a massive surge
or spike, the kind created by a direct lightning strike, the MOV
sacrifices itself and stops the electricity from passing through.
Pe3
has two external lights to indicate that the MOVs are functional.

Electrical Noise Filtration
Noisy appliances include TVs, compact fluorescent bulbs, fluorescent
lamps, computers, stereos, and all appliances that now have
electronic interface and control. Electrical noise interferes with
the switching power supplies and causes premature failure. Pe3
technology has not previously been offered to homes, small
businesses, and schools. Let’s face it; the use of electronics
within the American home has been growing at exponential rates and
the need for filtering out the “noise loads” has never been greater.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does PowerwoRx e3 work in any home?
Yes, as long as you have a circuit breaker panel with breaker
switches and not the old screw in type fuses, the unit will work on
any single-phase electric application for homes.
|
Do you use an air conditioner regularly? |
Is your central air conditioner or heat pump unit 3
years or older? |
Do you have more than one refrigerator or freezer? |
|

Is your refrigerator/freezer not EnergyStar rated? |
Is your dishwasher not EnergyStar rated? |
|
Do you have a number of appliances in your home? |
Is your forced air furnace 3 years or older? |
|
Will
Pe3 affect any of my appliances and their normal use?
If anything, your motors will run about 10% cooler, which is good
for a motor because heat is the enemy of a motor.
Is Pe3 tested and approved by independent labs?
Pe3 is UL listed and tested. The technology is recognized by the US
Department of Energy.
How much can I expect to save per month by using Pe3?
That depends on the size of your home, the amount of inductive motor
load, and the amount you are paying per kilowatt-hour. Some users
have reported up to 25% in reduced
consumption, but the expected savings is somewhere in the 7% to 15%
range.
How long will it take for PowerwoRx-e3 to pay for itself?
Depends on your individual circumstances, number of appliances and
age, electrical costs and usage patterns, but most units are paid
for within thirty-six months.
Is Pe3 easy to install?
We recommend installation by an electrician. The unit comes with
installation instructions. It installs in about 20 - 30 minutes.
What is the operational life of my Pe3 unit?
It has a predicted life of over 20 years.
Why haven’t I heard of these products until now?
Two words: cost effectiveness. Not too many years ago, electric
rates throughout the US were cheap, costing as little as 4 cents per
kwh. Now, electric rates are 8, 10, 12, 14, etc. New York City is 22
cents per kwh and Hawaii is 33.5 cents per kwh. At the current
rates,
Pe3
makes all the sense in the world.

Summary
PowerwoRx-e3 is a unique application of proven technologies. It
provides your home or business with the electrical power
conditioning capabilities previously available only to the largest
facilities and installations.
Pe3 is easy to install and provides immediate benefits. It provides
power factor correction, surge and spike suppression, and noise
reduction in one cost-effective and maintenance-free package.
Homes and businesses contain many electronic devices that are
sensitive to surges. Nearby lightning can create an energy surge
that enters your property and destroys valuable equipment. On a
smaller scale, circuit noise (from hair dryers, vacuum cleaners,
microwave ovens, etc.) affects the performance of audio systems,
computers, home entertainment systems, and the picture clarity of
TVs.
Pe3 protects the customer's property from all such power
disruptions. At the same time, it saves energy on air conditioners,
refrigerators, pumps, and fans. Pe3 improves equipment performance
and prolongs equipment life.
PowerwoRx-e3 is:
-
Physically mounted on a wall near the panel of choice and
connected to the panel via conduit and a dedicated circuit
breaker.
-
A
maintenance-free, solid-state device with no moving parts; not
meant to be opened or serviced during its operating life.
-
Recognized by Underwriter's Laboratories (UL) in the Industrial
Control Equipment category.
-
Environmentally friendly!
Installation:
Installation Instructions (PDF)
-
Should be installed by a professional electrician to meet your
local code.
-
Typical installation takes 30 minutes and costs $150. Installer
should provide conduit. Customer will pay extra if a new
breaker, outdoor waterproof box, or sub-panel is needed.

Here
is some advice from Doug Hoffman, founder of NORMI, and a
licensed builder...
|
Here are some thoughts to consider from the construction
side of
installation:
1.
Many states, Florida being one, have licensing laws and
it would be illegal for ANYONE except the
homeowner or licensed electrician to install PowerwoRx.
2. Most electricians DO NOT want the
“curious” peaking over their shoulder…it’s annoying.
Just let them do their job and they will get it done
quickly. Many subcontractors will charge a minimum for
such a small job and won’t necessarily want you to know
how easy it is or how quickly he can do it.
3. Building a relationship with an electrician is
the answer! Find a licensed HVAC contractor that
is also a licensed electrician and you can have a
friend who could install the PowerwoRx AND DuctwoRx. You
can build a solid friendship that will be mutually
beneficial.
4.
The
builder who wrote these points says he
would not allow a homeowner to install the
PowerwoRx. TOO MUCH RISK—crossing wires, high voltage,
burning up the unit, etc. His suggestion:
ALWAYS get a professional.
