How Money is Made
a complete presentation for new
EcoQuesters
|
Learning the
workings of an MLM sales plan is not easy.
This webpage will answer 98% of your
questions
if you will study it with an
interested mind. |
EcoQuest is a
hybrid company in that we offer a major sales opportunity in conjunction with
a networking system. We do $7 to $10 million per month in sales
with indoor air purification, LaundryPure, our new energy product, a consumables
line, home water
purification and the activTek commercial division.
|
Ten Ways to Earn
Benefits or Money |
|
1. |
Casual Retail Commissions—from 25% to 50%.
Available to all ranks from
Day 1. Commercial Qualification opens up new product categories. |
|
Casual Income Potential
$250 per sale;
$1,000+ per
month for some people.
The cost to
join is $49.
New Dealers
are able to
earn this type
of income
immediately. |
Our best selling product is the Fresh Air
purifier. When ordered six at a time at the dealer price per unit is
$469. When sold at the Suggested Retail Price (SRP)
of $747, the profit is $278 per sale (37.2%).
Other
examples could be shown, but Fresh Air is the #1 seller. No example can tell the whole story inasmuch as not all Dealers
sell at SRP. Various segments of EcoQuest sell Fresh Air at $799, $769
and $699. Each Independent Business Owner is in business for himself.
More
EcoQuesters make Casual Retail Commissions than any other form of bonus
or income. The Casual Participant who makes a sale every now and then,
buys his Fresh Airs one unit at a time and does not worry about
advancement in the sales plan structure will make about $258 per sale (shipping
factored in).
A
Casual Seller has no quotas. He can sell zero per month, three per month
or what have you. Exact commissions are determined by subtracting the
price list cost (based on your
rank) from the retail price you are
charging. |
|
Very few people memorize the details of
the Sales Plan because it is not necessary. A person who works for Ford
would not know how to calculate his own paycheck down to the last penny
and neither will you. The company tracks all orders (PV—Point
Value—is used for bonus
computation), links people by their
dealer number, promotes those who qualify for advancement and computes
each bonus earner's net check by the 10th of each month. The bonus
calculations are then audited (with
corrections made) and checks are
mailed by the 20th. The money you receive in August is based on July's
PV. |
|
2. |
Career-sized Retail Commissions—from 25% to 50%—even more
in a few special cases.
Licensed Contractors
(builders, HVAC, electricians, plumbers, engineers)
can move immediately to
Commercial Qualification status. |
|
Retail Potential
$2-$10,000
per month;
FAR MORE
in some
commercial
situations.
Top retailers
have to move
up the ranks
(a 3-6 month
process) to
qualify for
the lowest
prices and
highest
bonuses. |
Car Qualified Managers-in-Training and
Sales Managers pay a unit cost of $414 for Fresh Airs. When sold at the
SRP of $747, the profit is $333 per sale (44.6%).
A Manager bonus of $55 is paid, boosting the net profit to $388 (51.9%)
for Sales Managers.
A
larger profit margin is earned by HVAC contractors who sell our home
DuctwoRx units at $1,195 (a commercially
viable price) after paying a FSD
price of $256 plus $6 of shipping. The profit of $933 represents a
margin of 78.1%.
Major
retailers sometimes specialize in Trade Show work. Some do Commercial
Selling and/or Small Businesses. Some generate leads through Radio Ads.
However, the residential market is the biggest and easiest market.
Not
everyone is a good salesperson, but this is the ideal company for
someone who is. People who dislike selling have to concentrate
elsewhere. |
|
Noted retailers include Leia Ryan (individual
sales, referrals, trade shows).
Larry & Eileen Miller (individual
sales, referrals, trade shows).
Ted & Chris Belz (group
sales, especially real estate groups).
Alton Holt (residential,
small businesses, schools, large commercial sales).
Donna Abels (individual
sales, referrals, small businesses).
Marsha Clark (individual
sales, radio, referrals).
Bubba Cope (individual
sales, small and medium businesses).
Michele & Barry Jones (individual
sales, referrals, weight loss).
Kathy Baskin (nutritional
products, weight loss, residential air).
Stan Morse (SpringHouse
water systems, hospitals).
Bob Wright (individual
sales, trade shows, referrals).
There are many others. A growing number of air conditioning companies
sell DuctwoRx, and there are markets we have not even touched yet. |
|
3. |
Modest Bonus Percentages for Beginners and Casual Participants.
Dealer, Senior Dealer, Master Dealer, Fast
Start Distributor |
|
To move
beyond these
bottom ranks,
a participant
must recruit
enough people
to consistently
move 20-60
or more
Fresh Air or
LaundryPure
units per
month. |
EcoQuesters with limited goals (or
who do not recruit) tend to
maintain their Dealership at or below the Fast Start Distributor level.
The
Sales Plan's lower levels pay small percentages, and all EcoQuesters
must past through these levels. Senior Dealer and Master Dealer can be
achieved through an initial order of a Success Pack or Master Pack. Do
not expect to receive an impressive bonus check at these levels.
Participants at these levels can earn bonuses from under twenty to a few
hundred dollars. Small checks are fun, but significant money can only be
made through sales or through network building and advancement.
|
|
Some people ask, "Why should I recruit if
I'm going to earn only a small bonus or sometimes nothing?"
Recruiting is done to extend the EcoQuest
opportunity to the new person and as an investment in the recruiter's
future. Through recruiting, qualifications can be met and an ongoing
business can be started.
A man who lays bricks does not have a
useful shelter after his first day or two of work. He has laid a lot of
bricks but it will not be a home until the job is finished to a certain
level. Same with building a network. |
|
4. |
Significant Bonus Percentages—20% to 42% times Point Value—
are paid to Sales Managers and above. |
|
Most groups
have 30 or
more dealers
before the
Leader begins
qualifying as a
Manager. |
Every product has an assigned PV (Point
Value), from which bonuses are
computed.
This
sales plan overview is being prepared by Bob Giddens, and I want to give
an example from my startup year, 1995. In June I was at the rank we now
call Associate Manager. Working very
hard, I did 50,000 PV and since I was not yet a Sales Manager, my month
generated only a $3,200 bonus check.
The
following month, I again did 50,000 PV through a combination of Success
Pack and air purifier orders. With no change in PV, the
bonus check jumped to $12,400.
The
moral of this story: If you keep your production up, the Sales Manager
level has fantastic income potential. |
|
The Sales Manager rank can be earned in 3
months, and quite a few people do it that quickly. Others take 6 months,
a year or even longer. In the end, the STRENGTH of a Managership is far
more important than how long it took to get there. All too often, a
person focuses on qualifying quickly and fails to build enough width,
depth and leadership into his Managership. Let us review those three
points: A healthy Managership has width, depth and a good ratio of
committed leaders. |
|
5. |
Separate bonuses from the Consumables Pay Plan. |
|
EcoQuest tried
an experiment
beginning in
January 2005.
We have one
pay plan for
the technology
products and
another for the
consumables. |
The consumables plan starts when a new
person creates a Triple-A automatic order (Authorized
-
Automated - Autoship).
The
plan requires a participant to build 7 Triple-A Legs to optimize the
benefits. Additional qualifications are based on the total CV (Consumables
Volume) of the downline.
The
company's CV is approximately 10% of the corporate total. The market
share of our consumables division is expected to increase.
I urge you to participate fully with this division of EcoQuest because (a)
our nutrition products will help you, your family and your friends and (b)
the consumables products are
destined to play a larger and large
part in the future of EcoQuest. |
|
Many medium and high level EcoQuest
leaders have seen dramatic increases in their bonus checks through their
marketing efforts in this area. Income from consumables is low in the
early stages of business growth, but think back to that story about the
brick layer. Every new Triple-A user is one more brick in your future.
|
|
6. |
Overrides based on Sales
Managerships that develop in your network as deep as 7
generations down. |
|
Override
Percentages
1st Level..8%
2nd Lvl.....4%
3rd Lvl.....2%
4th Lvl.....1%
5th Lvl.....½%
6th Lvl.....¼%
7th Lvl.....¼% |
Superstar incomes are developed mainly
through this aspect of the program: The development of Managerships many
levels deep.
Every
order, whether from a new Dealer or a veteran, is part of some
Managership. Just as McDonalds is made up of 15,000 stores, EcoQuest is
made up of 1,000 active Managerships.
The
bonus options covered thus far were all within a single Managership. The
new Dealer starts at the bottom and earns money through selling. Based
on recruiting and personal selling, he works up toward a maximum bonus
potential of 42%.
Overrides begin when individuals (recruiters
and leaders) within your
Managership move up to your same level, the Sales Manager level. From
that point on, you can earn Overrides on those groups down to 7
generations deep. |
|
Example: You are a Manager and one of your
people advances from within your group to Manager. You and he are now
both eligible for the maximum Managership percentage (42%).
He "breaks away" from your group (instead
of being your Assistant Manager within a McDonalds, he moves out and
runs his own new store). You earn
an 8% Override on his PV. That's how it works.
When he trains a Manager, the process
continues. The new person earns 42%, the first upline Manager earns 8%
and you, the second upline Manager, earn 4%.
This process continues through 7 levels or
generations. The term generation is used to assure you that if someone
drops out, the levels close up (this
is also referred to as compression).
If a Manager produces 20,000 PV in a
month, the 8% bonus is $1,600; the 4% bonus is $800; etc. It is
obviously in your best interest to develop strong Managers rather than
weak ones. Eight percent of zero is zero. |
|
7. |
Car Bonuses. |
|
Hundreds of
EcoQuesters
have become
car qualifiers. |
Associate Managers can earn up to $350 per month; Sales
Managers and above can earn up to $800 per month; Executive Master
Managers and Presidential Masters can earn up to $2,500 per month for
two bonus cars.
Both
car bonus programs have a 6-month qualification cycle. |
|
Example: Your group does 10,000 QV (Qualifying
Volume, slightly different from PV and easier to earn)
in your first month. You then do 15,000 QV or more in 5 additional
months. In Month 7 you lease a car of your choice. Upon providing the
company with a copy of your lease and a photo of yourself with the car,
you start receiving car credit in the following month's bonus check.
|
|
8. |
Travel Dollars. |
|
Thousands of
EcoQuesters
have earned
full or partial
payment for
a cruise or
company trip. |
Travel Dollar accounts are opened for all
EcoQuesters who reach the Master Dealer rank (sometimes
this is achieved on Day 1). Travel
Dollars are then earned based on ordering and downline activity.
Top
producers earn thousands of Travel Dollars and may apply them toward any
form of travel, including trips that are not related to EcoQuest in any
way. |
|
Travel Dollars accumulate slowly in the
beginning. As with some of our other benefits, the Travel Dollar program
was instituted with career people in mind. If you pass through EcoQuest
in a year and then drop out, the Travel Dollar program will be of no
value; but if you make EcoQuest your career, the potential is very
exciting. |
|
9. |
Special Annual Incentives. |
|
Approximately
3% times the
annual PV of
the whole
company is
applied toward
the President's
Club and BMW
programs. |
Global Profit Sharing pays
monthly, quarterly and annual bonuses to consistent recruiters and
producers.
The
GPS program defines various ways for Sales Managers to earn Success
Result points. These points are then converted into money and travel
rewards.
The
President's Club, also earned with Success Results points, is the most elite annual bonus and travel program. |
|
Are you competitive? Leaders who qualify
for both of these programs often put $5,000 to $20,000 into their bank
accounts at year end. This, in addition to going on two exceptional
trips. The 2008 GPS trip is a cruise from New York City to Canada and
then the President's Club qualifiers will continue to London. EcoQuest groups have
been to Hawaii, Europe, the Caribbean, Australia, Mexico, the Galapagos
Islands and major
destinations in the US. |
|
10. |
Health Insurance Benefits
for higher ranking leaders. |
|
Add up all that
EcoQuest
offers! This is
not just a
part-time,
home-based
hobby, it's a
full career. |
EcoQuest implemented a Health Insurance
program in 2006 for leaders who hold the rank of Coordinating Manager or
higher.
This
is a major medical program through Blue Cross Blue Shield and the
company pays half of the premiums. No other network marketing company
offers this type of benefit.
Although our health insurance is only for top ranked people, plans exist
for enlarging the eligibility pool after a year of experience has been
posted. |
|
Go back through this list of benefits and
decide which ones you would like to earn. We don't promote EcoQuest as a
get-rich-quick or get-rich-easily program. The program takes work,
selling, recruiting and leadership. The blend of these activities is up
to you.
Kristin MacPherson is an example of
someone who has earned every bonus and benefit on this list.
She started
by selling 10-20 air purifiers every month for two years. She was not
interested in network building at that time, but she earned $3,000 to
$6,000 per month during a stressful time when her husband was unable to
work due to an injury. Two years after starting, Kristin began a
recruiting campaign. This allowed her to earn a Managership, a car,
several family trips and monthly bonuses as high as $7,000. Life was
impressively good.
Kristin's next strategic jump was to continue selling and recruiting
but put more emphasis on leadership. This step boosted her to over
$200,000 per year, and she is still growing. In 2005, the MacPhersons
bought a beautiful new home that faces a small lake. They have security,
respect and an unlimited path for additional growth |
|
Most Sales Plan details are
presented here. There is no need to memorize the plan, but a serious
participant needs to know what he must do to reach his ultimate goal.
Various start-up requirements and "the next rank I need to reach" are
important, but THE WHOLE STRUCTURE (the
bigger picture) must be understood,
as well.
Why?
Because the dreams a new person
entertains in his first few weeks will have an impact on the goals
he sets; on his attitude about all aspects of EcoQuest; and on
the caliber of people he tries to recruit. Go ahead and DREAM as you
review this webpage!
Make sure you calculate how wide your
group must eventually be. It is important to set a width goal that is
two times as wide as will ultimately be needed. It is also important to
diversify your group geographically. And it will help to calculate how
many Managers you will need at the various levels to meet your income
goal based strictly on Overrides (see
#6 above).

NOTE: This is an idea of how your business might look;
it is NOT the only possible plan! |

Where will these
Managers live? It is important that they be developed in several
cities, not in one place. Imagine the impact of Hurricane
Katrina on your career if all of your Managers had been in New
Orleans. How will your income be impacted—perhaps only
temporarily—if all your Managers are in Southern California and
an earthquake hits?
Also, if you have 42
Managers, doesn't it stand to reason that you should have 3 or 4
times that many committed sub-leaders? Each Manager needs a few MITs or his Managership will be flimsy. Bottom line: to make a
quarter of a million bucks a year, you must develop an
organization that contains about 200 people who want to build
careers with EcoQuest.
And let's get real.
To develop 200 WORKING LEADERS, you may have to recruit 800 who
initially "say" they want to be Leaders. Enroll these people in
Leaders Club. Work with them. Collect their weekly reports.
Answer their questions. Help solve their problems. See if you
can get them to do the real work. Meanwhile, set the best
PERSONAL EXAMPLE that you can.
This, my friends,
is what an ECOQUEST CAREER is about. A person who truly
understands the ups and downs of life (as
in Murphy's Law)
will double every number when he or she sets this goal.
It may seem a
little scary—but this is what's involved when a person wants to
make a quarter of a million bucks a year. I've done it and I
think it's worth it! |
The next thing to learn is that bonus
percentages are inclusive. If you are a 42% Manager and one of your
recruits is a 22% Associate Manager (AM), you earn a net bonus of 20% on that Leg (42%
- 22%). If that AM has a FSD
under him, he'll earn 4% on that Leg (22%
- 18%). All Managership bonus
payouts ALWAYS add up to 42%. The last column in the chart below shows
how much a Manager earns on Legs at each of the various ranks. It varies
from 42% down to 20% on the pre-Manager Legs and it is 8% on the Manager
Legs.
For discussion purposes, a Manager usually
earns 25%, as an average, on the PV of his entire Open Group. If you and your
group move 100 Fresh Airs (27,500
PV) and 100 LaundryPures (25,000
PV) and 20 Success Packs (30,000
PV) in a single month, for a grand
total of 82,500 PV, you could expect to receive a $20,625 bonus check. A
car qualifier would receive an additional $800 car credit for a total of
$21,425. That annualizes to $257,100.
A comment about the above example. If you
do enough quality recruiting to get 20 Success Packs in your Open Group
every month...and if you keep replacing your strong legs as people break
away and become Managers below you, you will hit this goal.
If these concepts elude you at first
blush, work through some examples on paper until you get the basic plan
figured out. Nothing is worse than having a highly motivated business
builder get turned off when he receives a relatively small bonus check
after producing a lot of business. This is possible in the pre-Manager
period, and it should not be seen as a negative thing. Once you arrive
at Manager, your percentages will always be high. Go back and read the
Giddens example in #4 above. In a pre-Manager month I earned $3,200
based on 50,000 PV. One month later I earned $12,400 based on 50,000 PV.
The details of the consumables plan are
not shown because, as I said, I expect this part of our plan to change.
Suffice to know that the work you do with our consumables products will
pay a little now and handsome dividends later on. |
