If a picture is worth a thousand
words, here for your inspiration are 10,000 words. This dog
story doesn't mean that the hardships in life are trivial and
can easily be overcome. Nothing could be further from the truth.
Most people—and you are probably one of them—have dozens of
day-to-day problems and at least a few ongoing hardships. Life
is tough, and it's not a game that can be won.
Many elements of life are
day-by-day things. This dog is living her day-to-day life as any
healthy, 4-legged dog would. The pictures tell us she has been
able to completely write off her two missing legs. I'm guessing
that must be easier for a dog than for a human to do.
[I've seen a similar
story about a dog that had two legs on one side and no legs on
the other. That dog seemed to be just as happy and well adjusted
as this one!]
Another part of human life that
makes coping more difficult is that humans have the capacity to
recall the past and visualize the future in great
detail. Animals don't do this to the same extent. This amazing
dog may not remember exactly how she lost her legs. Nor does she
lament about how different her life would be if only she had
four legs.
I won't try to describe the process
through which humans cope with the greater complexities of their
world. It's different for each of us, and it's certainly not
easy. I'm just asking you to allow yourself to be uplifted by
these photos. They help me believe that maybe, just maybe,
almost anything is possible.
Will you join me in enjoying this story?
